Paul has faced more challenges in his 20 years than most will in a lifetime. As a child, he entered the foster care system, was adopted, and later re-entered care when his adoptive family could no longer support him. In 2016, "Paul" was adopted again, hoping for stability—but by 2022, his adoptive parents walked away, leaving him with nowhere to go.
Despite everything, "Paul" has never given up. He graduated high school and is now enrolled at local community college, determined to build a future for himself. But there’s one thing standing in his way—mobility.
"Paul" has Cerebral Palsy, and the wheelchair he has now limits his ability to fully participate in everyday life. A standing wheelchair would be life-changing, allowing him to:
✅ Take part in college lab courses that require standing positions
✅ Cook his own meals and do his laundry
✅ Reach shelves, cabinets, and everyday items without needing assistance
✅ Gain the independence he has fought so hard for
Medicaid denied his request for this vital chair. Living in an Assisted Family Living Setting, "Paul" receives only $66 a month for personal expenses. Yet, through sheer determination, he has already saved $1,500 toward the cost of his wheelchair. Now, he needs our help to make up the rest.
